Just off the coast of Kalimantan lies some of the most pristine and exotic diving in the world. Kalimantan Tours snorkeling
and diving tours brings the best of this diving paradise to you at the most competitive rates by far. Whether you want your
diving or snorkeling adventure tour to include manta rays, turtles, jellyfish, scorpion fish, lion fish, sharks, or the elusive
coconut crab (on the beach), the areas of Derawan, Sangalaki, Kakaban and Maratua have what you're looking for and much more.
Derawan boasts some of the greatest biodiversity of any diving area. It is a haven for sea turtles, which you
can see in great abundance, and watch them come ashore to mate and lay eggs on a nightly basis. There are also literally
hundreds of species of coral on Derawan, as well as loads of colorful and unique critters to feast your eyes on. Derawan is
also the center for trips to dive in Sangalaki, Kakaban and Maratua. Don't miss out on the snorkeling and diving adventure
tours of a lifetime.
Sangalaki is known as the Manta Ray capital of the world. You can swim amongst massive schools of these gentle
giants, while also enjoying some of the richest marine biodiversity anywhere on earth here. Sea turtles are also in vast abundance
in Sangalaki.
Kakaban's main attraction is a large, marine lake in the middle of the island. This lake is inhabited by a slew
of unique and colorful plants and critters, including a dazzling spectral array of stingless jellyfish. This is one of only
two lakes of its kind in the world.
Barracuda Point, also in Kakaban, is, as the name indicates, home to swarming schools of impressive barracuda.
It is also possible to sight sharks off Kakaban as well. Our guides know the secret hang-outs of the barracudas and sharks,
so you will be assured of a memorable experience.
Kakaban is one of the few remaining habitats in the world for robber or coconut crabs. These giant hermit crabs' legs
can span more than a meter across. Tales abound of them climbing coconut trees, snipping the coconuts, and opening the tough
shells with their mighty pincers to eat the nuts.
Maratua Island is home to one of the largest schools of barracuda known to man. While you watch the dazzling quicksilver
display of barracudas dancing phrenetically around you a school of huge and graceful mantas will get in on the act. Many who
have been to Maratua claim it is the best diving experience they have ever had.
If you're not into diving, and would prefer to just relax on the beach and enjoy the scenery, Derawan and the surrounding
islands are perfect for that as well. There are world-class beaches with unspoilt white sand and turquoise waters as well
as top-notch facilities to ensure your comfort and enjoyment while you watch some of the most breathtaking sunsets in creation.
